1. First attempt to launch the Clean Up expedition
in July in conjunction with the Pakistan Gasherbrum II, to benefit
from the returning porters, did not materialize due to bad weather
and accumulation of snow at Concordia. Finally our two member expedition
comprising Nadir Ali as Dy leader and myself as Leader was launched
on 03 Sep from Skardu. After hiring 13 porters from Askole, the last
village, we left for Concordia on 6th Sep. ACP. The Expedition reached
Concordia on 10 Sep and started garbage collection work at the base
camps of K-2, Broad Peak, Gahserbrum II and at Concordia, Shama and
Ghore I Army camps. The garbage collected at the Base camps was shifted
either to Concordia and Shama (in case of Gashebrum -II BC). Following
loads of various trash/garbage were collected and packed by the expedition
in four categories ie, tins, plastic material including polythene
bags, waste cartons/paper and batteries:- |

carried about 25 kgs of load),
(2). Shama Camp– 77 porter loads
(3). Goro I Camp – – 18 porter loads
(4). Ghore II Camp – 38 porter loads

However, due to non availability of porters only 72
porter loads were ferried from Concordia to Askole arriving by 03
Oct and stored in the newly constructed Karakorum Trust hut at Askole.
Further transportation of the garbage has been deferred till beginning
of next climbing season in May/June 2007. Daily progress report is

7:00 AM Erect banners & start collecting
Rubbish around Concordia.
1:00 PM 2 loads of tin sent with 2 porters to Askole, promising them
to be paid Rs 2500/- each.
Col Manzoor Hussain stopped to send laods as 1-2 or 3 and to carry
all loads at once. Just ordered to collect and stock in Concordia.

| 7:00 AM Moved to B.P Base Camp. All the
day spent in collecting Rubbish, back to Concordia, carrying 7 loads
back to Concordia. |

6:00 AM Forward K-2 Base Camp, spent all
the day cleaning B.C.

In K-2 B.C. Collect garbage. Back to Concordia
at 6:30 PM. Carrying 10 loads. (2=Skins), (1=Batteries), (1=Paper
+ Plastic), (6 Tin).

| Supposed to leave Concordia to G-II B.C,
but because of 2xporters who have sickness cancelled the plan. Worked
in Concordia all the day - wind and snowing. |

Bad weather stopped us to reach G-II B.C.
Snowing heavily stuck in tents, collect garbage and start pressing
tins (3xloads) after noon.

AM.
Nadir informs me through walkie talkie, there is a lot of tins and
rubbish to collect . |

No news from Nadir all the day collecting
and packing rubbish with one porter.
7:15PM informed progress to Col Manzoor Hussain on Thoraya. |

10:30 Met a porter sent by Nadir with the
message, about 103 loads of Tins, papers, plastic and glass are ready
to be packed (including Rubbish of G-II B.C) and 2 porters were not
feeling well.
3:00 PM Moved to Shama to look into the situation there. Porters were
getting well. |

Getting back to Concordia while Nadir moved
to G-II with porters. It has started snowing heavily
7:10pm informed Col Manzoor Hussain about all situation. Asking him
to send 150 porters to carry garbage. |

| Met porters who have come from Shama having
message of Nadir that work in G-II BC and in Shama Army Camp its over.

Moving to Goro-II at 9:30AM.
Rest of day collecting Rubbish in Goro-II Tourist Camp-II.
Porters sent back down to Askole, 4 x porters facing skin problems. |

Moved to Army Camp Goro-II all the day
cleaning, pressing tins and packing. Waiting for a phone call from
Col Manzoor Hussain, whether porters have moved up from Askole or
not.
Collect garbage 12 loads (1xplastic + Paper + Batteries, 11 tin) from
Army Camp ( 1xplastic+Paper, 6 tin) 6 loads in Tourist Camp.
7:15 PM Call from Col Manzoor Hussain telling him about all the situation. |

| Preparing to send the porters (with us)
down to Askole. But they were not ready to move. Until they were not
paid in Goro-II or in Askole as they demanded (Rs 13070/-), informed
Col Manzoor Hussain as I got his call. 7:00 PM Col Manzoor Hussain
orders to pay porters as they demanded. |

10 Porters sent to Askole carrying 8 loads
while 2 of them were not well and they were carrying food of porters
loads, they were sent C/O Hussain Askole for checking and storing.
9:30 AM 50 porters from Askole caqme to Goro-II with porter sirdar
(Mehdi) and they were sent with Nadir to Concordia to pick the Garbage
loads.
